Dr. Dan Bennett, III, MD
Dr. Dan Bennett III, MD, is a board-certified ophthalmologist with nearly three decades of experience providing comprehensive eye care to patients in Columbus, Mississippi, and the surrounding region. He earned his Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Mississippi School of Medicine in 1990 after graduating cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry from Mississippi State University.
Dr. Bennett completed his postgraduate training with a Pediatric Residency at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences and Arkansas Children’s Hospital, followed by an Ophthalmology Residency at the Alton Ochsner Medical Foundation in New Orleans.
Since 1996, Dr. Bennett has practiced general ophthalmology at Bennett Ophthalmology Group, where he is known for his commitment to clinical excellence and compassionate patient care. In addition to his clinical practice, he has been a business partner at Eye Laser & Surgery Center of Columbus, LLC since 2002, helping expand access to advanced surgical eye care in the region.
Dr. Bennett is a Diplomate of the American Board of Ophthalmology and is actively involved in several professional and civic organizations, including the American Academy of Ophthalmology, Mississippi Academy of Eye Physicians and Surgeons, Mississippi State Medical Association, New Orleans Academy of Ophthalmology, the American Heart Association, and the Lions Club.
In recognition of his service and dedication, Dr. Bennett received the Edwin Dalstrom Distinguished Service Award in 2009. He has also contributed to ophthalmic literature, with his work published in Retina, including research on the surgical removal of peripapillary choroidal fibrosis.
Dr. Bennett remains deeply committed to advancing eye care while serving his community with integrity, skill, and professionalism.
